Gilpin County Senior Living, Inc.
Gilpin County Senior Living’s Mission is to provide affordable senior friendly rental housing. In 2010 the Gilpin County Board of County Commissioners supported a Housing Needs Assessment. It reports a big senior population growth in coming years. Housing demand projections indicate the County should plan for approximately 12 units per year through 2035. The report results produced community planning meetings, which formed into the “Gilpin Commission on Senior Housing”. After exploring together, the possibilities of for profit systems and companies, the Commissioners opted to support the "Commission" becoming a non-profit organization on January 17, 2015, as Gilpin County Senior Living, Inc. The goal is to build a 16 Unit apartment complex. Total building cost is $1.5 million. The apartments will be reserved for Gilpin County Seniors. They will not pay over 30% of their annual income and/or assets for rent, or the competitive rental rate. Their homes will be senior-friendly.
